This Open forum will be chaired by Jason Spiller, Editor of HR Director. The audience will be invited to participate in putting questions to our distinguished panel.

Interim Managers are sometimes viewed as temporary cover but this misses the mark.  Interim Managers can be a highly effective strategic tool for change...discuss!

Interim Partners specialises in providing high quality interim management solutions to large organisations. Doug Baird established Interim Partners in January 2003 with the aim of creating a high quality interim management business. This aim has been achieved and Interim Partners now support many of the UK's most prestigious companies in retail, FMCG, financial Services, utilities, construction, technology, media, and manufacturing. They are also partnered with a number of private equity firms.

Interim Partners places a broad range of interim managers including chief execs, chief financial officers, HR, IT, operations, programme and project directors with candidates earning between £500 and £2000 per day. Over the past five years the company has grown by an average of 140% each year making it one of the fastest growing companies in the UK.

Doug's experience spans all levels of recruitment in both the interim and contract sectors. Doug began his recruitment career in 1994 with a national consultancy after which he played a significant part in the growth of a financial recruitment firm, ultimately being appointed as Divisional Director. During his career he has worked with numerous companies in the FTSE 250 and Fortune 500. Doug is a graduate of the University of York is married with one child and has another on the way. His interests include cinema, skiing and foreign travel.

Martin has recently managed the writing of the authoritative Guide to Interim Executive Management for the CBI. He was a Key Note speaker at the First European Conference on interim management and called as an ‘expert witness’ on interim management practice.

A pioneer of the industry, Martin Wood, in 1990, founded PA Interim Management (an ‘outsourced’ service of PA Consulting Group) which he ran for six years before leaving to establish BIE Interim Executive. BIE is the UK’s leading practice.

Nick Robeson is Chief Executive of Alium Partners and with more than a decade of experience in recruitment, he is recognised as one of the leading figures in the Interim Management Industry. Nick joined Boyden in 2000 to restart their UK Interim Management activity and led a management buy-out of Boyden Interim Management in 2003. The company has now been rebranded as Alium* and as the Chief Executive, Nick's focus is primarily board and senior executive roles covering transition, change and turnaround.

Nick was Chairman of the Interim Management Association from 2004-08, during which time he earned a reputation for his commitment to  developing and maintaining ethical and commercial standards in the sector. He remains actively involved with the Interim Management Association.
